Product Details

The Digital Acoustics IP7-FX – IP Intercom and Paging Amplifier is a flexible, PoE-enabled (802.3af) module used to create IP audio solutions. The IP7-FX is designed to simplify the selection of an IP audio module by incorporating the most common features used in designs that require from 1 to 25 watts in either half- or full-duplex environments. By incorporating these features, the IP7-FX is recommended for new IP audio designs and can be used as a direct replacement for the IP7-ST/STx, the IP7-SS8/SE8, the IP7-FD, or the IP7-SS20.

The IP7-FX Design Improvements Over Its Predecessors Include the Following Features:

  • Shortened the internal audio path and removed redundant electronics, which improved audio clarity
  • Included line-out support (2V peak-to-peak) for amplifiers driving 25/70V paging systems or powered speakers
  • Included 12VDC output for powering line-level microphones
  • Included 3.3VDC (current-limited) output for powering an LED
  • Included support for audio output up to 25 watts using a 24VDC external power supply
  • Included support for half-duplex audio using the speaker as both a speaker and microphone (talkback or single-transducer mode)

Deployment Scenarios

The IP7-FX can be utilized in the following modes:

  • Two-way half-duplex audio using a talkback speaker
  • Two-way half-duplex audio using a separate microphone and speaker
  • Two-way full-duplex audio with Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC) using a separate microphone and speaker
  • One-way 8-watt audio paging using PoE or an external 12VDC supply (ACCPS-W-18-12)
  • One-way 25-watt audio paging using an external 24VDC supply (ACCPSMDR-60-24)

Flexible Connections

The modular design offers superior scalability for both small and large applications. This cost-effective network amplifier can support 8 or 25 watts and is capable of driving a single 8-ohm speaker or a group of speakers using optional 70V matching line transformers. The IP7-FX includes ports to support speakers, microphones, call buttons, as well as relay and sensor ports for door and gate access control. These ports enable access to safety and emergency systems/devices (i.e., fire and safety, panic/alert buttons, sensors) for automated audio paging/notifications, music players, and many other applications.

The IP7-FX supports a variety of analog devices:

  • “Mic-level” or “line-level” microphones or audio devices that support line input
  • 8-ohm speakers, analog amplifiers, or audio devices that support line output
  • Momentary contact call buttons
  • Integrated dry-contact relay for activating door strikes or access control equipment
  • Integrated input sensor for detecting an open door or other conditions triggered by a contact closure
  • External music or audio sources for injected music or audio
  • Fire and emergency systems for audio notifications
  • Panic buttons or other alert systems

The IP7-FX includes a secondary network port to connect another IP device to the network. The integrated DIN clip attaches to a standard 35 mm DIN rail for easy mounting. A surface-mount plate is also included.

The IP7-FX can be used with the TalkMaster Focus System, SIP/VoIP phone systems, or security and video management systems for which integrations have been completed (see Integrations Page).
