Digital Acoustics: The IP Audio Behind the Systems You Rely On

Digital Acoustics: The IP Audio Behind the Systems You Rely On

Most people encounter Digital Acoustics (DA) IP audio technology through a school PA intercom, a retail paging system, or a remote monitoring deployment. Those are the visible applications. But increasingly, manufacturers and systems integrators are choosing to embed DA technology directly into their own products because when your system needs to communicate in a camera monitoring or door/gate access systems, nuclear control room, on a naval aircraft carrier, consumer products, or across thousands of drive-thru transactions every day, building a reliable IP audio layer from scratch is not a practical option.

Digital Acoustics gives OEMs a proven platform they can build on, so they get to market faster without starting from zero.

Security and Surveillance Systems

Remote monitoring companies have integrated DA’s IP Multi-Zone Controller into platforms including IMMIX and proprietary monitoring systems, enabling central station operators to communicate across up to 48 zones at a client site through a single network connection. Operators can speak directly with store employees, issue live voice deterrence to trespassers, or trigger automated announcements, all from the same interface used for video and alarm verification. The result is a monitoring service that actively intervenes rather than just observes.

Portable security trailers at construction sites and car lots combine cameras, strobes, and horn speakers on a single pole. DA’s IP amplifier technology provides talk-down capability from anywhere in the world, supporting live operator intervention and sensor-triggered automated announcements without separate audio infrastructure. Smart city deployments take this further, incorporating DA’s IP amplifier technology into street-level poles combining lighting, cameras, music playback, and talk-down capability in a single unit.

Critical Infrastructure and Defense

Nuclear facilities have integrated DA’s IP speaker systems into control room communication infrastructure. DA’s patented Fail Forward™ technology keeps the system operational even if the primary server fails.

The U.S. Navy incorporated DA’s ruggedized IP amplifiers into shipboard communication systems on aircraft carriers. DA hardware passed both the Barge Explosion Test and the Newport News Shipbuilding Test. The U.S. Air Force integrated DA’s IP7-FX amplifiers into mobile portable communications towers for emergency field deployments where commercial off-the-shelf hardware would not hold up.

Transportation and Industrial Applications

Train manufacturers incorporate DA’s industrial IP amplifiers, built with vibration-proof components, into onboard communication systems. Light-rail cars and platforms in two of America’s largest metropolitan areas run on DA technology.

Truck scale manufacturers and integrators use DA’s noise-cancelling IP intercom solutions in their weigh station and gate entry platforms. Attendants communicate clearly with drivers over diesel engine noise, with gate and door relay control built into the same interface. As one scale integrator noted after evaluating multiple systems, DA delivered clear audio in very noisy environments with no IP lag and more than industrial quality hardware. Airports similarly integrate DA IP intercoms into access control systems at entry points, with two-way communication and door release handled by one integrated system.

Emerging Applications: Retail Technology and Robotics

Fast food ordering systems across thousands of drive-thru and drive-in locations incorporate DA’s noise reduction and echo cancellation technology for clear two-way communication between customers and order takers, on-site or remote. Robotics represent a newer frontier: DA’s IP audio technology integrates into security and retail robots, connecting customers directly with remote staff at the press of a button, with DA’s audio layer handling clarity regardless of ambient noise.

What Makes DA the Right Choice for Integration

DA’s hardware and software are designed from the ground up to integrate into other systems rather than exist as a closed ecosystem. Open architecture, SIP 2.0 compatibility, an available SDK for custom integrations, and hardware engineered for industrial, outdoor, and extreme environments make DA a practical choice for OEM and proprietary systems integration across virtually any industry. DA also owns its core chipset technology, meaning OEM customers get a platform customizable to their specific requirements without being constrained by third-party component specifications.
