Microsoft Teams has become the communication hub for millions of organizations. It is where staff already talk, meet, and coordinate throughout the day. Until now, though, the intercoms and paging speakers installed throughout a facility have lived in a separate world from the Teams client running on every desk.
That changes today. Digital Acoustics is pleased to announce a new integration with CyberGate by CyberTwice, connecting our IP Intercoms, IP Speakers, and IP Amplifiers directly to Microsoft Teams. With CyberGate, your team can answer a two-way intercom call or make a live paging announcement across the facility without leaving the Teams application they already use.
What CyberGate Does
CyberGate is a cloud-based service, hosted in Microsoft Azure, that acts as the bridge between IP audio devices and Microsoft Teams. Connect a Digital Acoustics device to CyberGate and it becomes reachable from Teams like any other contact.
That unlocks two core capabilities:
Two-way intercom communication. A visitor presses an intercom at an entrance, and the call rings straight into Microsoft Teams. Staff can answer from a desktop, laptop, or mobile device, speak with the caller, and respond, wherever they happen to be working.
Live paging announcements. Users can page individual Digital Acoustics IP Speakers or IP Amplifiers, or groups of them, directly from Teams, delivering live announcements throughout a building or across a campus.
Simpler Than Direct Teams Integration
Connecting audio devices to Microsoft Teams has traditionally required a stack of telephony infrastructure. CyberGate removes that burden. Because it connects natively to Teams, there is no need for:
- A Session Border Controller (SBC)
- Microsoft SIP Gateway, Direct Routing, Microsoft Phone System, or Operator Connect licensing
- PSTN phone numbers for each connected device
- Upgrades to premium Teams user licenses
CyberGate is available through Microsoft AppSource and the Azure Marketplace, and a single CyberGate device license supports both two-way intercom and paging on Digital Acoustics products.
Two Ways to Deploy with Digital Acoustics
The integration supports both of Digital Acoustics’ firmware platforms, so organizations can choose the deployment model that fits how they work.
IP7 firmware: TalkMaster™ FOCUS and Microsoft Teams together. CyberGate supports our IP7 firmware, which means end users can operate their devices with both TalkMaster™ FOCUS and CyberGate/Microsoft Teams for intercom and paging communications. Devices are set up through the TalkMaster™ FOCUS Administrator Console and can then be controlled from CyberGate and Teams. This is the right fit for organizations that want the full depth of TalkMaster™ FOCUS, including event-driven and scheduled audio, alongside everyday access from Teams.
S3 (SIP) firmware: Microsoft Teams only. For customers who simply want to make announcements from Microsoft Teams, CyberGate also supports our S3 firmware. In this deployment, the TalkMaster™ FOCUS Administrator Console is not required at all. Devices are set up directly through the CyberGate/Microsoft Teams software, keeping the installation as light as possible.
Either way, the endpoints are the same field-proven Digital Acoustics hardware: PoE-ready IP Speakers for ceilings, walls, and hallways, IP Intercoms for two-way communication, and IP Amplifiers in 8, 25, and 40 watt models that can drive new speaker installations or bring an existing 70V analog system onto the network.
